Job Valves* (Duties):

• Supervise apprentices and oversee commercial install projects.
• Use blueprints or design specifications to install or repair HVACR systems.
• Install new HVAC units in commercial, or industrial buildings.
• Install ductwork and thermostats to control HVAC system.
• Gas pipe sizing and installation.
• Connect systems to fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, and other components.
• Calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems and ensure appropriate temperatures are maintained.
• Complies with company and industry safety standards.

Job Components* (Requirements):

• High school/GED and/or trade or technical classes
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications
• Journeyman License Required

Must possess the natural aptitudes essential to acquiring the skills of the trade. 3. Must be physically able to perform all work of the trade. 4. Must be legally residing in the United States, genuinely interested in learning the trade, and willing to comply with all terms and conditions of the Apprenticeship Standards, Rules, and Regulations. 5. Applications must be filled out and submitted in person at the Pipe Trades Training Center located at 750 Leigon Way. Applications are available Monday through Thursday afternoons from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM only.

• Service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve the efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or cleaning coils and furnace blower compartments.

Job Description

The HVAC installer is responsible for accurately installing HVAC equipment in residential structures. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of HVAC equipment, codes, and proper installation procedures.

Job Responsibilities of HVAC Installer:

• Replace any heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration equipment or complete systems.
• Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
• Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using a pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
• Join pipes or tubing to the equipment and to the fuel, water, or refrigerant source in order to form a complete circuit.
• Lay out and connect electrical wiring between the controls and equipment according to the wiring diagram, using an electrician’s hand tools.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications.
• Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers, using hand tools.
• Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
• Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions.
