We are seeking Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Service Technicians to fill openings across the United States. Interested candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in Ammonia refrigeration service and hold a valid driver’s license & safe driving record.

Responsibilities of the Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Service Technicians:

  • Provide ammonia refrigeration repair and maintenance support to industrial accounts in the food and beverage, refrigerated storage, pharmaceutical, and gas processing industries.
  • Perform routine and emergency service on Ammonia and Freon refrigeration equipment commonly found in industrial applications. This includes a working knowledge of screw and reciprocal compressors, electrical troubleshooting all common types of ammonia central systems & control/alarm systems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and governing requirements.
  • Maintain and manage truck inventory and/or job tool boxes in an accurate, neat and orderly manner as well as adhere to vehicle maintenance program guidelines (If applicable).

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive work experience in Ammonia refrigeration service.
  • Valid Driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Physically able to climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination and Respirator Fit Testing.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of field service technician experience.
  • Available to travel 25%.
  • Availability to be on call nights and/or weekends as required.
  • Basic computer skills (electronic documentation).
  • Working knowledge of screw compressors, electrical troubleshooting of common types of industrial refrigeration systems, and control alarm systems.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for learning how to perform preventative maintenance and routine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs in a shop environment on customer’s equipment including oil field equipment, irrigation pumps, vehicles and other equipment with an engine and/or transmission, as instructed by senior level General Service Shop Technicians and Group Leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Learn basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques as instructed by more senior level Shop Technicians.

• Work with more senior level Shop Technicians to understand how to accurately troubleshoot and diagnose routine problems with customer’s equipment.

• Retrieve parts and other supplies for more senior level Shop Technicians.

• Learn how to complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.

• Provide assistance to more senior level Shop Technicians on larger jobs.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of class 7 and 8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment
  • Repair or rebuild all or parts of various equipment systems
  • Work in accordance with DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and other rules and regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections on equipment and prepare safety documentation as needed

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • 2 years of experience in general heavy truck repair for commercial fleet operations
  • To obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC)
  • Your own hand tools for tractor-trailer repairs
  • Basic computer skills
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Mid Shift: 9a-7:30p Overtime may be required

Shop Help Job Duties:

  • Attend training regarding applicable equipment
  • Perform additional duties as needed
  • Assist in loading fabricated rebar on trailers and unloading stock material from trailers
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Operate production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Crosstrain on multiple machines
  • Operate rebar fabrication equipment, such as shears, benders, cranes, forklift, threaders, forging, welders, etc.

Shop Help Requirements:

  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Able and willing to cross train as required
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations
  • Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, pay attention to detail and find root causes for issues
  • Ability to operate fabrication machines in a safe manner without supervision
  • Able to work overtime as business requires
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions when needed
  • Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals
  • Possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the industrial field
  • Excellent communication skills, in both written and verbal form are necessary to be successful in this role
  • Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required
